A Woodland man eluded Davis police following a high-speed pursuit, though officers caught up to him the following day.
Lt. Art Camacho said the chase began with a Wednesday traffic stop for a license-plate violation, but “when police contacted the driver he decided to evade, and he took off from the stop.”
A brief, high-speed pursuit from the city limits into the county area, where the vehicle crashed — causing minor injuries to the two passengers inside — and the driver fled on foot.
Officers detained, then released, the two passengers and searched for the driver without success, Camacho said. However, he was apprehended the following morning while walking out in the county.
Michael Salazar Padilla, 24, was medically cleared at Sutter Davis Hospital before being booked into the Yolo County Jail on charges of evading and hit and run causing injury, Camacho said.
