Davis police arrested a local man on indecent exposure charges Tuesday afternoon.

Sander Ian Findlay, 30, was taken into custody at about 1:20 p.m. after witnesses reported seeing him expose himself multiple times in the area of Sycamore Lane and West Covell Boulevard, Lt. Art Camacho said.

Officers apprehended Findlay inside the Safeway store at The Marketplace and booked him into the Yolo County Jail.

Findlay previously spent nearly two years in jail after being identified as a suspect in the December 2016 attempted kidnapping of a 12-year-old girl walking home from school in the Mace Ranch neighborhood.

But the court case unraveled nearly two years later in light of evidence that showed Findlay’s cell phone and vehicle — which was equipped with an ignition interlock device following a DUI conviction — were located roughly an hour away near Lake Berryessa when the kidnap attempt occurred.
