Davis police are continuing to investigate a pair of robberies that occurred in the city late last week.
The first occurred at about 3:40 p.m. Thursday on the Mace Boulevard overpass. The victim told police he was walking when a vehicle approached him and two suspects exited, asking him if he had gold. They then took the man’s purse and fled westbound on Interstate 80 in a blue vehicle. No weapons were reported being seen during the incident.
Police described both suspects as Middle Eastern males. One was 35 to 40 years old, about 5-foot-7 with an average build, short black hair and a beard, and who initially spoke Arabic. He was last seen wearing a white collared short-sleeved shirt and yellow pants.
His accomplice was 40 to 50 years old and 6-foot-1 with an average build, short black hair and no facial hair. He wore a beige-colored Kurta-type tunic and pants.
A second robbery occurred at about 11:40 p.m. Friday in the area of Russell and Lake boulevards, also involving a man who was walking when two suspects approached him in a dark-colored sedan.
“While one of the suspects remained behind the wheel of the sedan, the other exited the vehicle , exhibited a handgun and told the victim to surrender his wallet, phone and backpack,” Lt. Art Camacho said. After the victim complied, the suspect threw the phone into a nearby field and returned to the car, which fled westbound on Russell Boulevard.
The gunman was described as a white male in his early 20s, wearing a dark-colored T-shirt and pants, with a cloth covering his face.
