A shoplifting incident at a Second Street shoe store morphed into a robbery Saturday when a suspect threatened an employee with a screwdriver, Davis police said.
Lt. Tom Waltz said a woman entered Famous Footwear at about 4:45 p.m. and stole a pair of shoes and a backpack. A store employee gave chase and caught up with the woman in the parking lot.
He had recovered the shoes when a man intervened and threatened him with the screwdriver, Waltz said. The suspects then left the scene, fleeing westbound on Second Street in a white Nissan box truck.
No injuries were reported.
Waltz described the suspects as a white female around 30 years old, 5-foot-5 and 200 pounds, with her brown hair worn in a bun, dressed in a gray hoodie, tight blue jeans. Her companion was a black male in his 30s, head shaved, standing 5-foot-8 and weighing 260 pounds. He wore a black hoodie and baggy blue jeans with red stitching on a front pocket.
