A Davis man faces drunken driving charges but avoided other counts by returning to the scene of his alleged crime, according to police.
Officers were summoned at about 1:45 p.m. Sunday to Lehigh Drive in East Davis, where a car had hit a parked vehicle and then left the scene, Deputy Police Chief David Delaini said.
The crash was still under investigation when 57-year-old Perry A. Poe arrived on foot and acknowledged his role in the incident, Delaini said. He apparently had driven home after the collision, but decided to return — thus avoiding an additional hit-and-run charge.
Poe was lodged at the Yolo County Jail on the DUI counts, Delaini said.
