A Nevada prison escapee only got as far as Yolo County before finding himself back in custody, sheriff’s officials said.
Michael Lillie, 37, was wanted on an active warrant after walking away from a Nevada Department of Corrections outdoor work crew in Carson City on April 8, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Matt Davis.
His luck ran out at about 10 p.m. Monday, when a vehicle in which he was a passenger was stopped on Highway 16 near County Road 97 west of Woodland. Lillie reportedly gave officers a false name at first, but was later determined to be the missing inmate and taken into custody.
Deputies also arrested a second passenger, 38-year-old Aaron Masters of Nevada, on a misdemeanor warrant out of El Dorado County, Davis said. Both men were booked into the Yolo County Jail.
