Davis police are crediting an iPhone app with helping officers apprehend two robbery suspects early Saturday morning.
According to Sgt. Dan Powell, the female victim was riding her bike in the area of Fifth and G streets shortly before 2 a.m. when the suspects pulled alongside her in their car, “and the front passenger either got out or reached out and ripped her purse off of her arm.”
The victim fell and the suspects fled, their take including a smartphone with the “Find My iPhone” app that police used to track the suspects as they drove to West Sacramento and back, Powell said. Officers pulled over their car on northbound Highway 113 at Hutchison Drive, recovering the victim’s purse “along with property from a similar robbery over in Sacramento.”
Methamphetamine-filled syringes also were found in the car, Powell said. The driver, 33-year-old Christiana Noriega of La Quinta and passenger Michael Petersen, 34, of Yuba City, were lodged at the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy and possession of drugs and stolen property.
