A teenager reported being robbed and briefly dragged by a vehicle Monday night while walking in South Davis.
Lt. Ton Phan said the 18-year-old male victim was walking home in the area of Valdora Street and La Mesa Court shortly before 9 p.m. when a car pulled up alongside him, and a rear passenger asked to use his cell phone to report an emergency.
“The victim told the suspect he could use the phone but he would dial the number for him,” Phan said. “After he was finished entering the number, the suspect asked to see the phone to make sure the number was correct. When the victim showed him the phone, the suspect grabbed the phone and the victim’s hand, punched the victim in the face, and pulled his hand and phone into the car window.”
Phan said the victim grabbed back at the suspect and was dragged several feet as the driver pulled away from the curb. He let go and fell to the pavement, sustaining scratches to his knees and elbow.
Police searched the area but were unable to find the suspects. They were described as a black driver and white front-seat passenger, both about 17 years old, while the two rear-seat passengers were males of unknown race and age. Their vehicle was a white, four-door sedan with black flames on the doors.
