Assault and mayhem charges may be in a Davis man’s future after he allegedly attacked and injured another man at a Mace Ranch apartment complex.
Elmer David Rodriguez, 24, was arrested at the Alhambra Apartments, 4500 Alhambra Drive, where officers were summoned at about 1 a.m. Saturday to investigate reports of a man yelling and knocking down an apartment door, Sgt. Dan Powell said.
Rodriguez was inside the apartment when police arrived and did not respond to officers’ commands, prompting police to take him to the ground in order to detain him, according to Powell.
Witnesses at the scene reported that Rodriguez attacked the victim with his fists and a skateboard, causing multiple injuries, including “a severely slit right ear,” Powell said.
Rodriguez was booked into the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, mayhem and resisting arrest.
