The Davis Fire Department is investigating a series of roadside blazes that occupied the city’s fire crews Saturday night.
Three fires broke out within a 18-minute time span, Division Chief Tim Annis said — 9:10 p.m. at Interstate 80 near the Yolo Causeway, 9:25 p.m. at County Road 32A at Mace Boulevard, and 9:28 p.m. at Highway 113 and Covell Boulevard.
“They’re incendiary in nature, and we’re investigating them right now,” Annis said Monday. Although crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames before they spread out of control, “the most significant loss was our resources being out there and tied up” all at once.
