After two arrests and a trip to the hospital, a Davis woman now resides in the Yolo County Jail for alleged domestic violence.
Officers responded to an initial domestic violence call around 5:30 p.m. Friday, arresting the wife on felony charges for domestic violence against her husband, said Sgt. Dan Powell of the Davis Police Department.
After the wife made several suicidal statements, however, police declared a 5150 code and took her to Sutter Hospital in Davis instead of the Yolo County Jail. Officers opted to get a warrant for her arrest while she was in the hospital., instead of arresting her on the spot, Powell said.
The 5150 code acts as an application for a 72-hour hold on an individual posing a risk to themselves or others. Officials at the hospital, however, did not place the 72-hour hold on the suspect.
The wife was released from the hospital the following day and was arrested for a second bout of alleged domestic violence under a misdemeanor charge. Police made a second arrest on the woman at 2:45 p.m. and lodged her in the Yolo County Jail.
Other than scratches to his face that drew blood, the husband did not require medical attention. No children were involved, Powell said.
