A California Highway Patrol officer works the scene of a collision on Interstate 80 in West Sacramento that snarled commute traffic in both directions for hours Tuesday. The crash occurred on eastbound I-80 at Reed Avenue shortly before 5:30 p.m. when a big-rig whose driver failed to brake for slower-moving traffic struck a Ford truck and a Honda Civic, which hit another car as it became lodged under the rig’s cab. The collision triggered a fire that charred the big-rig and the Honda, and four people were hurt, including the Ford truck driver who suffered major injuries, the CHP reported.
