A man is due in Yolo Superior Court today to face allegations that he intentionally hit three bicyclists with his vehicle near the town of Clarksburg.

Alamar Houston, 38, is being held without bail at the Yolo County Jail. He was scheduled to be arraigned at 11 a.m. today on charges including attempted murder, use of a deadly weapon, DUI causing injury and vehicle theft.

California Highway Patrol officials say Houston was driving a stolen car northbound South River Road north of Clarksburg when he struck the cyclists — including two 17-year-old boys — at about 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Witnesses told the CHP that Houston “made a deliberate turning movement” into one of the bikers, causing him to fall onto the roadway, then traveled another quarter mile before striking two more cyclists from behind and throwing them from their bikes.

The two teens were hospitalized with major injuries, while a third person, 51-year-old Donald Dumaine, suffered minor injuries, according to the CHP. All three victims are from Sacramento.

Officers arrested Houston, a transient, later that day after Houston allegedly attempted to avoid capture, leading police on a high-speed pursuit from the Highway 50/Jefferson Boulevard area of West Sacramento into Sacramento.
