8-year-old sustains ‘severe injuries’ from pitbull attack

A pit bull attack sent a 7-year-old child in to the hospital Saturday afternoon.

While the owner of the dog was at work, the owner’s nephew, 10, and the nephew’s friend, 8, were playing when the dog attacked the friend, said Sgt. Dan Powell of the Davis Police Department. The only adult present was sleeping, Powell said. Police responded to the call which came from a Cambridge Terrace home at 4:50 p.m.

The child sustained severe injuries to his face and has been transferred to the UC Davis Medical Center, Powell said. The dog was taken by animal control.
