Davis police are investigating a convenience-store robbery as well as a robbery attempt.
The first incident occurred at about 9:50 a.m. Monday at the Valero gas station on Chiles Road, where a man who left the store without paying for multiple items revealed a possible weapon in his waistband when confronted by the clerk, then backed his car toward the clerk as he fled the scene.
Davis police Lt. Ton Phan described the suspect as a black male adult in his mid-20s with short dark hair, wearing a red T-shirt and black jeans. He drove a blue four-door vehicle, possibly a Chevy Cavalier.
At about 1 a.m. Tuesday, a woman reported that a man tried to rob her of her cell phone as she walked in the area Covell Boulevard and Catalina Drive in North Davis. She refused him and fled as he demanded the phone, Phan said.
Police searched the area but were unable to find the suspect, a Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s, wearing dark clothing.
Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call the Davis Police Department at 530-747-5400.
