Two Woodland women are facing prison time for their roles in a November vehicle theft, according to the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office.

A Yolo Superior Court jury trial last week resulted in convictions for Marissa Price, 19, on carjacking, robbery and vehicle theft charges; and Vanessa McKee-Salazar, 23, for vehicle theft and grand theft.

Prosecutors said the victim had left his car unattended outside his Woodland home on the morning of Nov. 8, 2014, while he and his daughter got ready to hang flags downtown for Veterans Day. The suspects happened upon the vehicle and hatched a plan to steal it.

Believing his daughter was inside the car, the victim ran toward the vehicle as Price backed out of the driveway, prosecutors said. He was thrown to the ground as she drove away, then reportedly threatened by McKee-Salazar when he detained her. Both women eventually were arrested.

Their sentencing is scheduled for May 18 in Judge David Reed’s courtroom. Price faces up to nine years in prison, while McKee-Salazar could receive a three-year term.
