A purse theft occurred on G Street early Saturday morning near G Street Wunderbar, Davis police reported.
Davis Police Cpl. Michael Moore said the alleged theft occurred after 2 a.m. when the victim was leaving Our House on Second Street. The details were sketchy due to the victim’s intoxication, Moore said, but she recalled being approached by a Hispanic male, whom she estimated to be about 5-foot-8.
The alleged thief engaged her in casual conversation, then grabbed her purse, which included her cell phone, with both hands and ran to a vehicle for which she could give no other description than that it was not a truck or SUV.
Moore said police haven’t encountered many such crimes lately, but added that this “crime of opportunity” is fairly easy for a criminal to perpetrate on intoxicated victims.
