A Davis fire crew rescued a choking 2-year-old boy Saturday afternoon, fire officials reported Monday.
Davis Fire Department Division Chief Bruce Fry said the toddler was choking on a hot dog when firefighters were summoned to an apartment in the 2300 block of Shasta Drive at about 1:50 p.m.
The crew comprising Capt. Bobby Weist and firefighters Leah Bennett and Jamie Mills performed CPR on the child, who was transported to Sutter Davis Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, Fry said.
Fry said the incident underscores the importance of citizens learning CPR skills.
