The suspect in last month’s Winters homicide has a scheduled extradition date of Dec. 30, authorities confirmed Tuesday.

William Carl Gardner III, 30, was taken into custody in Las Vegas on Dec. 10, three weeks after he allegedly shot to death his ex-girlfriend, Leslie Pinkston, as she sat in her parked vehicle on Railroad Avenue.

Gardner indicated during a Clark County, Nev., court appearance last week that he would not fight the extradition process.

The Woodland Police Department, which has assisted Winters police in the homicide investigation, has taken responsibility for the extradition arrangements and plans to use a transportation service to move Gardner from Las Vegas to Yolo County, Capt. George Bierwirth said.

“In all likelihood he will be transported by motor vehicle back to California,” Bierwirth said.

Gardner is expected to be arraigned in early January in Yolo Superior Court. In addition to murder charges, he has a pending stalking and criminal threats case in which Pinkston had been scheduled to testify against him.
