Landy Black is staying put.
The Davis police chief was one of six finalists for chief of the Chandler, Ariz., Police Department. But following interviews last month, Chandler went with a more local choice, an assistant chief from nearby Scottsdale.
“I’m good with it,” Black said last week. “I do like it here, and am happy I will be able to continue working on some things that are important to me.”
Black, who has served as Davis’ police chief since 2007, sought the Arizona job for professional growth and to be closer to his aging parents, who live in Mesa.
