A Davis man was assaulted and robbed of his bicycle and wallet Thursday night in the H Street bike tunnel, according to Davis police.
Lt. Glenn Glasgow said the victim, 45, was biking through the tunnel at about 8 p.m. when three men surrounded him, pushed him off his bike and struck him on the head with a metal object. The Davis police log indicated the object was a baseball bat.
The suspects demanded the man’s wallet, which he handed over before running from the scene to call police.
Police later determined the trio also had stolen the man’s bike, Glasgow said. The victim sustained minor injuries in the incident.
The suspects were described as Latino males in their 20s, all about 5-foot-9 and 150 pounds, wearing dark pants and dark hooded sweatshirts. They were last seen running eastbound toward J Street.
