A former Woodland city employee accused of bilking the Woodland City Employees Association coffers of more than $36,000 between 2009 and 2012 pleaded no contest to a felony embezzlement charge Tuesday in Yolo Superior Court.
Ronald Dean Scott, 55, is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 14 before Judge Samuel T. McAdam.
Woodland police, who arrested Scott in October, said Scott served as treasurer of the employee-funded WCEA during the three-year period that the non-public funds went missing. Scott also was employed as an engineering technician III in Woodland’s Community Development Department at the time.
Lt. Anthony Cucchi said the embezzled money was spent on “personal items — debts and purchases.”
Scott’s attorney, Richard Lansburgh, could not be reached for comment regarding the plea agreement.
