A 14-year-old Clarksburg boy died Sunday morning in a vehicle accident in which his older brother was at the wheel, the California Highway Patrol reported Monday.

Tyler Uslan was a passenger in a Dodge Ram pickup that was traveling northbound on Z Line Road north of Teal Road at about 10:45 a.m. when the driver, 16, lost control of the truck on the gravel roadway, according to CHP reports. The truck crashed into an irrigation canal, and the right side of the vehicle became submerged in water.

Uslan was unresponsive when emergency personnel arrived on scene and was pronounced dead at about 11:30 a.m. His cause of death was drowning, Yolo County coroner’s officials ruled Monday.

The CHP did not release the name of the victim’s brother pending the completion of the investigation into the crash. Neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected as factors, Officer Cindy Leal said.
