Davis police are searching for the suspect in a sexual-assault attempt Tuesday night in South Davis.
Lt. Glenn Glasgow said the attack occurred at about 9:40 p.m. near the intersection of Mace Boulevard and El Macero Drive, where the male suspect grabbed a woman around the waist with one arm, covered her mouth with his hand and tried to drag her toward the lawn of a nearby residence.
The woman was able to free herself after a brief struggle, and the suspect ran away, Glasgow said. He described the suspect as a white or Latino male in his late 20s to mid-30s, 5-foot-11 or 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, with a medium build, sideburns and mustache. He wore a hooded zip-up sweatshirt and pants.
Glasgow said the incident does not appear to be related to another attempted sexual assault that occurred Oct. 28 in the 600 block of Alvarado Avenue in North Davis.
