Davis police say gang tensions may have played a role in an F Street brawl that left two people hospitalized with stab wounds early Sunday morning.
Lt. Glenn Glasgow said the investigation, which was still ongoing Monday, began at about 2 a.m. Sunday with reports of a large fight in progress at the Suntree Apartments, 2033 F St. Officers arrived to find a 20-year-old Sacramento man suffering from stab wounds.
“During the course of the investigation, it was determined that a party within the complex had become out of control and a large fight erupted among its guests,” Glasgow said. “During that fight, the victim was stabbed and suffered major injuries.”
Police learned while still at the crime scene that a second stabbing victim, a 24-year-old Sacramento man, had been driven by a friend to a local hospital, according to Glasgow. Information on the victims’ conditions was not immediately available.
Some callers had reported hearing several gunshots; however, while some witnesses said a man had been seen with a gun, there was no evidence that it had been fired, Glasgow said.
Investigators are still looking into the circumstances that led to the fight, and “there are some indicators this may be a gang-related incident,” Glasgow said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Davis Police Department at 530-747-5400.
