Residents of an East Davis home were temporarily displaced by a fire Friday morning.
A mailman alerted the occupants of the Madrone Lane house at about 9:45 a.m. that smoke was coming from a roof vent, Davis Fire Department spokeswoman Evelyn George said. The fire caused about $5,000 in damage and is believed to have been caused by faulty wiring of a light fixture.
The residents — three adults and three children — received housing assistance from the American Red Cross, George said.
