Yolo County Animal Services officials investigating the discovery of a headless dog left in a Knights Landing resident’s car on Thursday learned it wasn’t the first time that person made such a grisly find.
Two weeks ago, the same resident found the decapitated head of a terrier inside a boat, which was parked outside the residence in the 42000 block of Fourth Street, said Vicky Fletcher, chief animal services officer.
The body discovered in the resident’s car Thursday was that of a Chihuahua, which in addition to being decapitated had also been disemboweled.
Neither dog belonged to the residents of the home, but Fletcher said both incidents are believed to be related.
The Yolo County Sheriff’s Department urges anyone with information about these incidents to contact its Animal Services division at 530-668-5287.
