Woodland police evacuated the city’s post office area Wednesday afternoon after officers observed a suspected armed man inside a vehicle.
According to a post on the Woodland Police Department’s Facebook page, the officers were dispatched to the post office parking lot in the 700 block of Court Street “regarding a subject who appeared to be unconscious in a vehicle.”
“When officers arrived, the subject had a gun in his lap and was still unconscious,” the post said. “The area was cleared and the subject was called out of the vehicle.”
Police said the man was cooperative and relayed that the ‘gun’ was an airsoft handgun replica, the department posted in a 4:45 p.m. update. Although he escaped any weapon charges, the man was cited for possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
