The Woodland Police Department released a sketch Tuesday of a man they described as a “person of interest” in a January homicide.
Isaac Carlos Morales, 20, of Woodland, was fatally shot on the night of Jan. 9 in the 100 block of College Street. Anyone who recognizes the person in the sketch is urged to contact the police department’s investigations bureau at 530-661-7800 or crime tip line at 530-661-7851.
Detectives also continue to investigate two other shooting deaths that occurred in the three months preceding Morales’ killing — the first on Oct. 21 at North and East Streets that killed Alvaro Gamera, 16, of Esparto; the second on Nov. 17 in the 100 block of Elm Street that left 44-year-old Raymond Ortiz dead.
Woodland police later established a gang task force to investigate the killings and a rash of other shootings, as well as a reward fund for information leading to the arrests and convictions of suspects in those cases.
