Westbound traffic came to a halt on the Yolo Causeway east of Davis on Thursday, the result of a multi-vehicle crash that left one car on its roof and another on fire, according to the California Highway Patrol’s traffic information website.
Details posted on the website indicate the crash occurred at about 2:40 p.m., leaving a black sport-utility vehicle overturned and a compact car in flames. The wreckage blocked all three lanes, stopping traffic and forcing emergency vehicles to approach the scene from the eastbound side of the freeway.
The CHP classified the collision as a major-injury incident, with three people transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries. Full details about the crash were expected to be released on Friday.
