Three men are likely wishing they’d socially distanced themselves from one another earlier this week, instead of being arrested on weapon and drug-related charges, the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office reported on Facebook.
“Sacramento County residents Juan Topete, 21; Abelardo Perez, 21; and Ernesto Gomez, 18; will all be sheltering-in-place in our jail after they were found target shooting with a stolen handgun near County Road 107 and Courtland Road just after midnight last night,” sheriff’s officials said in the Monday post.
Accompanying the post was a photograph showing the firearm, ammunition, piles of cash and drugs seized during the arrests, which allegedly included 54 grams of cocaine, 62 Xanax pills and nine MDMA (ecstasy) pills.
In a separate post, the Sheriff’s Office sought to dispel online rumors “about people being stopped and harassed for being out in public. Please consume your news from reliable sources and be careful not to spread false information.”
“To clarify: If your business falls under the ‘Essential’ category, you DO NOT need a piece of paper from the County. You will NOT need to carry proof of employment with you either. The order allows for people to leave their residence to provide or receive essential services, engage in essential activities, and work for essential businesses and governmental services.”
