A series of shootings that have plagued Woodland since last fall continued Tuesday night with gunfire that struck a house and a car, police said.

Sgt. Dallas Hyde said officers responded at about 8:40 p.m. to reports of multiple shots being fired in the 1000 block of North Street. They discovered that one bullet struck a house “from an extreme angle, indicating the gun was fired west of the home,” but did not enter the residence, Hyde said.

A black Nissan Sentra parked on the north side of the street also was hit by a single round, said Hyde, who noted that no victims, suspects or associated vehicles have been identified.

“A neighborhood canvass was conducted to identify possible witnesses and to ensure no one else had been stuck by gunfire,” Hyde said. “All efforts resulted in negative leads and no further bullet strikes were discovered.”

Police have launched a task force and offered reward money for information leading to suspect arrests in the shootings, particularly those that have resulted in three fatalities since October. Anyone with information about any of these incidents is asked to contact the Woodland Police Department at 530-666-2411.
