One person has died and two others were injured in what’s being reported as a triple shooting Monday night in Woodland, according to police.

Woodland Police Department officials said the investigation began at about 7:40 p.m., when officers responded to a report of shot being fired along the railroad tracks, which run parallel to East Street. That’s where they discovered a victim who had succumbed to shooting injuries in the area of North and East streets.

Meanwhile, at around the same time, two people arrived at the Woodland Memorial Hospital emergency room with gunshot wounds that were not life-threatening, police said.

“At this time there is an ongoing investigation with multiple crime scenes,” police said.

This morning, it was revealed that Woodland police also were investigating a second shooting scene, this one just outside the city limits on County Road 24A, although the crime was determined to be in the city’s jurisdiction, police said. Its connection to the other shooting, if any, wasn’t immediately clear.

Further details about the shooting victims were not released, and there were no immediate reports of arrests. Yolo County coroner’s officials had not released the deceased victim’s identity as of this morning.

The homicide is Woodland’s first since March, when 23-year-old Anthony “Shrimp” Bosser was fatally shot following an altercation at West and Beamer streets. His alleged killer, Stefon Clifford Ceaser, is due to appear in court Friday for a continued preliminary hearing in his case.

More details will be added to this story as they become available.
