A 55-year-old Winters resident was arrested on drug charges Wednesday following a vehicle pursuit near Esparto, Yolo County sheriff’s officials said.
It began just outside the Esparto town limits, where a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle, sheriff’s Capt. Lance Faille said. The driver failed to yield, however, and led the deputy on a five-mile chase during which items — later determined to baggies of methamphetamine and heroin — allegedly were tossed out the suspect’s window before the vehicle came to a stop.
Armida Contreras was taken into custody and booked into the Yolo County Jail on charges of possession for sale and transportation for sale of methamphetamine and heroin, destruction of evidence and evading. Faille said a search of the vehicle revealed additional drugs, totaling 94 grams of heroin and 101 grams of methamphetamine.
