A rash of vandalism on the Davis High School campus earlier this week is being considered a possible hate incident, Davis police said Wednesday.
Lt. Art Camacho said the vandalism is believed to have occurred sometime Sunday and was reported Monday morning. Officers that responded to the scene documented graffiti spray-painted on school lockers, windows, walls and doors on the 315 W. 14th St. campus.
“These markings ranged from profane and derogatory statements to drawings of male genitalia,” Camacho said, including what he called a “derogatory anti-sex-orientation slur.” The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Davis Police Department at 530-747-5400.
Davis school district officials declined to comment about the vandalism Wednesday.
