A Davis man is in custody after allegedly leading Vacaville police on a high-speed pursuit Thursday afternoon, despite having been shot and injured by one of the officers.
Nolan Bell, 27, was arrested after checking himself into a Napa hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound, according to a Vacaville Police Department Facebook post. The extent of his injuries were unknown.
The incident began at about 1 p.m. as officers conducted a probation search at a residence in the 700 block of Shady Glen Avenue, police said.
“While out with the probationer, officers encountered a second individual inside of a car in front of the home,” the Facebook post said. A check of the license-plate number reportedly revealed that the driver was wanted on a felony warrant for identity theft, fraud and possession of stolen property.
Police said that “sometime during the encounter with the driver,” shots were fired by one of the officers at the scene. The Facebook post did not elaborate regarding the circumstances that prompted the shooting.
An injured Bell allegedly initiated a pursuit following the shooting, though officers ultimately lost track of his black Kia Forte. Police announced shortly after 5:30 p.m. they had located Bell at the hospital and arrested him.
