Yolo Superior Court Presiding Judge Samuel T. McAdam has announced that Judge David Rosenberg has been reappointed by Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye to the Judicial Council Advisory Committee for Audits and Financial Accountability for the Judicial Branch.

The audit committee’s charge is to make recommendations to the Judicial Council on audits and practices that will promote financial accountability and efficiency in the judicial branch.

“I thank the Chief Justice for the confidence she has shown in reappointing me,” Rosenberg said. “I’m privileged to chair a strong committee, charged with making sure that public funds are properly spent and accounted for by all the Superior Courts, the Courts of Appeal and the Supreme Court of the State of California.”

Rosenberg was appointed to Yolo Superior Court in October 2003 and has since been elected to office three times. He currently presides over a criminal trial department as well as the specialty court assignments including Mental Health Court and Addiction Intervention Court.

He also was elected Presiding Judge three times by his peers and was instrumental in the development of the current Woodland courthouse, completed in 2015.

Over the years, Rosenberg has served on multiple statewide committees, including as chair of the Trial Court Presiding Judge Advisory Committee (TCPJAC), and was a member of numerous Judicial Branch committees including the Joint Rules Working Group and the Judicial Recruitment and Retention Working Group.

The California chief justice appointed Rosenberg to a full three-year term as a voting member of the Judicial Council, only the second judge from Yolo County to ever serve on the Judicial Council. As a member of the Judicial Council, he served on the Executive and Planning Committee, the Rules and Projects Committee and other standing and special committees. He was also charged to be the Judicial Council liaison to courthouse construction projects throughout the state of California.

Rosenberg also serves on the California Judges Association (CJA) executive board.

Before his appointment and election as a Superior Court judge, Rosenberg served as a Yolo County supervisor, as the mayor and member of the Davis City Council, as a civil litigator in private practice, and as a senior advisor to two California governors.

Rosenberg also served previously as chairman of the California Law Revision Commission, the Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board (the former Board of Control), the California State Lottery Commission, and the Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management Commission.
