The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office continued its crackdown on illegal marijuana grows last week, seizing more than $8 million in plants and arresting three people at several rural locations.

“While the cultivation of cannabis is permissible in the county of Yolo under certain circumstances, it requires a permit per County Code section 5-20.01,” Sgt. Matt Davis said in a news release. “Unlawful cultivation sites are being eradicated countywide as the locations of the grows become known.”

The week before, deputies seized $6 million in unlawfully grown marijuana and arrested six people following searches at properties in Guinda and Rumsey.

Search warrants were served at the following locations last week:

  • The 3000 block of County Road 88b in Dunnigan, where deputies on Wednesday removed 356 growing marijuana plants, eight ounces of processed marijuana, and property related to the sale of marijuana. The value of the marijuana is estimated at $800,000.

Antonio Iribarren, 56, of Pittsburg, Georgia, was booked into the Yolo County Jail on multiple felony counts including possession of marijuana for sale, cultivation of marijuana, possession of drugs while armed, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

  • The 2000 block of County Road 88 in Dunnigan, where on Thursday deputies eradicated 615 growing marijuana plants valued at $1.8 million and seized two handguns.

Evan Card, 39, of Discovery Bay; and Steve Santos, 33, of Brentwood; were booked into the Yolo County Jail on felony counts of cultivation of marijuana and conspiracy.

  • The 20000 block of County Road 79A in Dunnigan, a search that yielded no arrests, though deputies seized 1,283 growing marijuana plants valued at $5.75 million.

Davis said Sheriff’s Office seeks and appreciates the community’s assistance in its efforts to curb unlawful marijuana cultivation. Those who wish to remain anonymous are encouraged to call the tip line at 530-668-5248 with information related to any criminal activity in Yolo County.
