Yolo County sheriff’s deputies seized nearly $6 million in illegally grown marijuana last week during searches of two rural Yolo County properties, sheriff’s officials reported Monday.
Sgt. Matt Davis said deputies served a search warrant last Tuesday at a property in the 7000 block of Highway 16 in Guinda, arresting five people and confiscating a large amount of marijuana that was cultivated without the required permit under Yolo County code.
Deputies collected 2,227 live marijuana plants and 41 pounds of harvested marijuana, which Davis said had a combined value of more than $5 million.
Arrested were Guangyang Bao, 60; Jian Fang, 54; Sinh Lieu, 52; and Bobby Lieu, 55; all of Sacramento; and Paofu Chen, 34, of Queens, N.Y. They were booked into the Yolo County Jail on felony counts of possession of marijuana for sale, cultivation of marijuana, maintaining a place for the purpose of unlawful drug sales, and conspiracy.
Three days later, on Friday, deputies served an additional warrant at a property in the 14000 block of County Road 41A in Rumsey, arresting one suspect and seizing 498 marijuana plants valued at $750,000, Davis said.
Allen Nelson, 30, of Sacramento, was jailed on charges of cultivation of marijuana, conspiracy and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.
