A 26-year-old Clarksburg man died Thursday afternoon in a two-car crash on South River Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.
German Romero Prieto was driving a Cadillac CTS northbound near County Road 141 and stopped in the driveway of the Clarksburg boat launch area, preparing to make a left turn into his residence, CHP Officer Rodney Fitzhugh said. When he turned, he did so into the path of a northbound Ford truck.
The truck broadsided the left side of Prieto’s car, causing fatal injuries, Fitzhugh said. The Ford’s driver, 68-year-old Timothy Neuharth of Courtland, was transported to the UC Davis Medical Center with minor injuries.
Fitzhugh said the 3:40 p.m. collision remains under investigation, though alcohol does not appear to be a factor. Yolo County Chief Deputy Coroner Gina Moya noted that German Prieto is not related to the county’s sheriff, Ed Prieto.
