A 47-year-old man from the Davis area died Friday morning in the Yolo County Jail, sheriff’s officials said.
Sgt. Matt Davis said the man was arrested by the Davis Police Department and booked into the jail at 1:13 a.m. for outstanding warrants, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
“At approximately 5:40 a.m. he suffered a medical emergency,” Davis said in a news release. “Jail staff immediately rendered aid and emergency personnel responded to the jail, but efforts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful and he was declared dead.”
An autopsy was conducted Friday morning but the cause of death is still undetermined pending toxicology results.
The man’s identity was withheld pending next of kin notification.
