Woodland police arrested two men Friday morning following a brief car chase.

Corporal Greg Elliott said the pursuit began at about 8:20 a.m. when an officer attempted to stop a car for a vehicle infraction near Main and First streets. The driver allegedly sped away, and the officer gave chase.

“Prior to the vehicle speeding away, the patrol officer got a glimpse of the driver and recognized him as 31-year-old Woodland resident Brian Galvan,” Elliott said in a news release. “The officer knew Galvan to have outstanding felony warrants for his arrest.”

The pursuit continued southbound through several neighborhoods before Galvan crashed his vehicle into a private resident’s fence in Everman Park, Elliott said. Galvan attempted to flee on foot but was soon apprehended.

There were two other adult males in the vehicle, and one was released from the scene with no charges. The other, 43-year-old John Jones of Woodland, also had a felony warrant for his arrest, Elliott said.

Galvan was booked into the Yolo County Jail for felony identity theft and felony evading warrants and a fresh charge for felony evading, while Jones was booked on a warrant for Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) violation.
