Woodland police report another shooting

A rash of shooting incidents Woodland continued early Saturday morning when a man reported being shot at during a fight, police said.

Investigators are now seeking the suspect, described as a Hispanic male adult with a heavy build, standing between 5-foot-10 and six feet tall, wearing a white T-shirt.

Sgt. Victoria Danzl said officers were dispatched at 12:45 a.m. to the area of Fifth and Elliot streets, where the found shell casings along with witnesses who said the shooting went down after the victim arrived there in a vehicle.

“The suspect challenged the victim as to why he was there.  The victim and the suspect exchanged words and began physically fighting,” Danzl said in a news release. “During the fight, the suspect produced a handgun and shot towards the victim.”

Both men fled the area following the shooting.

Neither the suspect nor the victim have been identified, Danzl said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Woodland Police Department at 530-661-7800.
