Complications surrounding a domestic violence situation in Woodland prompted local police set up a perimeter Wednesday evening around 425 Third St.
Woodland police said the incident began at approximately 5 p.m. with a domestic disturbance call. The suspect, 22-year-old Woodland resident Miguel Licea, was accused of physically attacking a victim and brandishing a firearm.
The first responding officers reported hearing gunshots originating from the suspect’s apartment. But Sgt. Steve Guthrie said police since have found no evidence of Licea discharging a weapon.
Woodland police and Yolo County sheriff’s deputies immediately barricaded Third Street between Main Street and Lincoln Avenue and ordered the occupants out of the apartment. Eventually, two men appeared, leaving an infant inside, police said.
After the incident, investigators determined that Licea allegedly locked the mother of his child out of the apartment following a disagreement. When she tried to get back in, the altercation allegedly got physical.
“He battered the victim and brandished a rifle when a neighbor attempted to help the victim into the apartment,” authorities said.
No one was injured. Licea has been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence battery and brandishing a firearm. Woodland police are continuing their investigation.
