A GoFundMe account has been established in memory of an 11-year-old Woodland boy who lost his life in a vehicle collision on Interstate 5 last week.
Relatives have identified the boy as Jimmy Alexander Heredia, who was a passenger in a Ford that was rear-ended by another vehicle whose driver failed to notice traffic that had stopped in front of him on the evening of April 13.
“Jimmy was always a happy kid, for being so small he had a big heart. When negative things arose, Jimmy always looked at the bright side of things,” family wrote on the GoFundMe page, which as of Tuesday had raised $6,600 of the $15,000 being sought.
“He was so excited to be a big brother for the first time. He was a younger brother to two other brothers. He loved his family and was full of life.”
Two other passengers in the Ford — Jimmy’s 13-year-old brother Jonathan Heredia and 25-year-old Rocio Garcia, all of Woodland — were transported to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, where Jimmy succumbed to his injuries.
The CHP continues to investigate the collision. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the agency’s Woodland office at 530-662-4685.
