Woodland police arrested three juveniles Thursday after they were caught on camera allegedly stealing a car.
Sgt. Ted Ruiz said officers were called out shortly before 5 p.m. to the Autumn Run Apartments, 1180 Matmor Road, where the victim reported the complex’s surveillance system had captured the theft of 2008 Volkswagen.
“The responding officer reviewed the surveillance video and identified two female suspects as juveniles from Woodland. The officer recognized the females from numerous prior police contacts,” Ruiz said.
After completing the report, the officer went to one suspect’s residence in the 100 block of College Street and spotted the stolen car in a nearby alleyway, Ruiz said. The two female suspects were sitting inside, along with a male juvenile in the driver’s seat.
The three youths, all Woodland residents, were taken to Yolo County Juvenile Hall. Ruiz said the girls face charges of vehicle theft and conspiracy to commit a crime, while the boy was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle.
