WOODLAND — It will be another six weeks before Yolo County prosecutors unveil their case against the woman accused of vandalizing the Islamic Center of Davis.
Attorneys for Lauren Kirk-Coehlo filed a motion to continue Monday’s scheduled preliminary hearing to allow more time to review discovery in the high-profile matter.
“We simply haven’t had enough time to review what we have,” defense lawyer David Dratman said in court, also noting that he and co-counsel Steven Sabbadini are awaiting additional materials from the Davis Police Department.
Yolo Superior Court Judge Daniel Maguire granted the continuance request, rescheduling the hearing for April 19, along with a status conference on March 21.
Kirk-Coehlo, 30, of Davis, is accused of vandalizing the Russell Boulevard mosque on Jan. 22 by breaking multiple windows, damaging bikes and wrapping raw bacon — a prohibited food in the Muslim religion — around door handles.
She has pleaded not guilty to vandalism and hate-crime charges and remains in Yolo County Jail custody in lieu of $1 million bail.
