Two Sacramento men were arrested on narcotics and firearm charges in Woodland on Thursday.

Alvaro Lopez, 28, and Hector Flores, 26, were stopped by Woodland police shortly after 2:30 a.m. after they’d been observed in a vehicle with expired registration. Prior to the stop, police had watched their Ford SUV enter the drive-through lane at Jack in the Box, 2000 E. Main St., where the passenger briefly exited the vehicle.

When police stopped the car on Main Street, they detained the driver, Lopez, for driving on a suspended license and took Flores into custody for a felony warrant.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found methamphetamine, more than an ounce of marijuana, concentrated marijuana and a laser sight for a firearm, according to Woodland police Sgt. Ted Ruiz.

When officers backtracked along the route Flores had walked after exiting the car at the fast-food restaurant, they found a backpack discarded in a bush that contained methamphetamine, marijuana, concentrated marijuana, drug paraphernalia, ammunition and a loaded firearm that had been reported stolen in Oregon, Ruiz reported.

Lopez and Flores were subsequently arrested for being felons in possession of a firearm, probation violations, possession of narcotics for sale, possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both men were booked at the Yolo County Jail.
