A routine vehicle check led to two people facing weapon-related charges, Davis police said.
According to Sgt. James MacNiven, officers were patrolling the area of County Road 32A near Interstate 80 at about 1:20 a.m. Friday and performed a welfare check on a couple that was inside a vehicle parked on the freeway onramp.
The couple was found to have a loaded handgun and a small amount of marijuana inside the car, MacNiven said. Officers arrested the driver, 27-year-old Lee Andrew Jackson IV of Fairfield, on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. He was booked into the Yolo County Jail.
His passenger, Sacramento resident Leah Deshay Farr, 30, was cited on a misdemeanor charge of carrying a loaded firearm in public.
