Davis police arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly attacked his mother Monday night.
Officers were dispatched shortly before 11 p.m. to a home in the 1500 block of Lemon Lane, where someone reported that threats were being made toward the alleged victim, a 50-year-old woman, Lt. Paul Doroshov said Tuesday.
The initial officer on scene made contact with the suspect, identified as Michael Anthony Carpenter, who according to Doroshov refused to comply with the officer’s orders and began running toward the victim. The officer deployed his Taser to subdue him.
Police also interviewed the alleged victim, who reported that her son “threatened to kill her, choked her and attempted to stab her with a knife,” Doroshov said. She was transported to Sutter Davis Hospital for treatment.
Carpenter was arrested and booked into the Yolo County Jail, where he is being held without bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon in Yolo Superior Court.
